What We Do
At Home From Home, we provide specialist housing and support for women and families facing homelessness, with a particular focus on young mothers and members of the Black and minority ethnic communities in Newham and surrounding areas.
Our work is grounded in a deep understanding of the barriers our residents face, including the lasting impacts of care experiences, housing insecurity, and systemic disadvantage. We do not just offer homes, we offer hope, stability, and the support needed to build independent, secure futures.
Who We Support
We provide both supported and general needs housing for:
- Young mothers, often with experience of the care system, who benefit from life skills and parenting support
- Single parents in need of low-level, ongoing support
- Homeless families seeking safe and stable temporary accommodation
- Individuals and families in need of general needs housing
Our services are tailored to people who may:
- Be moving on from the care system
- Have medium-level support needs
- Need guidance towards independent living
- Require help developing parenting skills
We work collaboratively with local agencies to ensure individuals are directed to the most appropriate support.
How We Help
Our goal is to prevent homelessness before it takes hold, by offering:
- Secure, high-quality housing
- Culturally sensitive, trauma-informed support
- Help with tenancy sustainment, budgeting, and benefit access
- Support around parenting, childcare, education, and employment
By listening closely to the people we serve, and working in partnership with Newham Council, other housing providers, statutory bodies, and voluntary organisations, we remain responsive, innovative, and community-led.
A Commitment to Our Community
As a Black-led Registered Social Landlord (RSL), we are proud to champion the needs of Black and minority ethnic communities. We exist to address the specific housing and support challenges faced by people often underserved by traditional housing systems, and we are committed to doing this in a way that centres dignity, choice, and cultural understanding.
While we continue to provide temporary homes for homeless families, our work is evolving. We are moving toward offering more permanent housing solutions and exploring new ways to meet the changing needs of the community we serve.
Rooted in the values of care, respect, and social justice, Home From Home is built on strong financial foundations and a belief in doing things differently, because everyone deserves a place to call home.
